Lithuania has initiated large-scale military exercises named “Geležinis Vilkas 2025-II” near its border with Belarus, signaling strong regional defense preparedness.
According to LRT, around 3,000 troops from Lithuania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Germany are participating in the operation. The joint forces have deployed 650 units of military equipment, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and armored personnel carriers.
The drills are designed to simulate attack and defense operations across training grounds and selected areas in Vilnius, testing the readiness and coordination of NATO forces.
These exercises are part of Lithuania’s broader series of intensive military maneuvers taking place throughout September and October, involving nearly 17,000 Lithuanian and allied soldiers.
The operation highlights NATO’s continued commitment to strengthening security on its eastern flank amid growing regional tensions.
