Malaysia has formally agreed to import US$200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan,

in a landmark decision aimed at strengthening trade between the two Muslim nations.

The announcement came during high-level discussions between Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as part of Shehbaz’s official visit.

The agreement was unveiled during a joint press conference following delegation-level talks.

Under the arrangement, Malaysia will facilitate imports of beef and other meat from Pakistan, provided

the products meet Malaysia’s halal certification standards and competitive pricing.

The meat import deal is part of a broader set of cooperation agreements between Pakistan

and Malaysia, which also cover trade, education, halal certification, investment, technology, and agriculture.
