A new study suggests that individuals using cannabis for conditions such as pain, anxiety, or depression face a greater likelihood of developing paranoia compared to recreational users.

The findings are based on responses from 3,389 participants—both current and former cannabis users over the age of 18—who reported no prior clinical history of psychosis. Data was collected through the Cannabis & Me survey, shedding light on how self-medication with cannabis may carry distinct mental health risks.
