Nepal has officially banned 26 unregistered social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Reddit, and LinkedIn, after the registration deadline expired.

According to the government, the platforms failed to register before the official deadline that ended on Wednesday evening. The ban officially took effect at midnight on Thursday.

However, registered platforms like TikTok and Viber will remain available to users, while Telegram is still under review and awaiting approval.

Authorities stated that the decision aims to ensure accountability, user safety, and compliance with national regulations.
