Pyongyang’s state media reported Sunday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally supervised the launch of two newly developed air defense missiles. The test, conducted a day earlier, was described as a demonstration of the weapons’ “enhanced combat effectiveness.”

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the missiles are based on “unique and special technology” designed to improve their operational response. However, KCNA did not disclose the location of the launch or provide technical details about the systems.

The tests came shortly after North Korea accused South Korea of heightening tensions along the border, further fueling friction on the Korean Peninsula.
