Poland’s decision to reopen two border crossings with Belarus has led to a dramatic fall in illegal migration attempts along the frontier.

According to the Polish Border Guard, only 10 attempted illegal crossings were registered between 15 and 16 November, while no incidents at all were recorded on 14 November a level of calm not seen since March 2025.

The trend is mirrored across the region.
On the Lithuanian-Belarus border, authorities have now reported 18 consecutive days with zero illegal crossing attempts. Latvia also confirmed no attempted crossings on 18 November, signaling a wider regional decline in migrant pressure.

Officials say the coordinated response and increased monitoring on the EU’s eastern flank are contributing to the sharp reduction.
