A new report by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) reveals a deeply alarming trend: the Israeli army is responsible for almost half of all journalist deaths worldwide in 2025.
According to RSF, 67 journalists lost their lives across the globe this year. Shockingly, nearly half of these deaths occurred in Palestine, where reporters were killed during Israeli military operations.
RSF stated that journalists in Gaza and the West Bank faced extreme danger while trying to report on the conflict, often becoming direct targets despite wearing press markings.
The organization warned that the situation represents one of the deadliest years for media workers in recent history and has called for independent investigations, stressing that attacks on journalists are violations of international law.
RSF also urged the international community to ensure the protection of reporters working in conflict zones and demanded accountability for all parties responsible.
