A Russian missile strike has hit a passenger train station in Shostka, located in

Ukraine’s northern Sumy region, leaving at least 30 people injured, officials confirmed on Saturday.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, calling it a “savage strike” on civilians.

“The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians,” he said in a late-night address.

The targeted site lies just 50 kilometers from the Russian border. According to Sumy’s regional governor, Oleh

Hryhorov, the strike hit a train bound for Kyiv, damaging passenger carriages. He also shared images of burning train cars at the scene.

Acting mayor Artem Kobzar confirmed in a Telegram post that emergency services, medics, and rescuers were working to assist the injured passengers.

The attack marks another escalation in Moscow’s near-daily strikes

on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure, which remains a lifeline for both civilians and military logistics.
