Russian Vessel Adrift in Oresund Strait, Rescue Underway

A major maritime operation is underway in the Oresund Strait between Sweden and Denmark after a Russian fishing vessel, Mechanic Stepanov, suffered a mechanical failure and has been left adrift.

According to reports, the Swedish Coast Guard, along with Danish and British Navy vessels, have launched a joint mission to stabilize the situation.

The vessel’s presence in one of the busiest shipping lanes in the Baltic Sea has been complicating maritime navigation for commercial and passenger ships. Authorities are working to prevent potential collisions and ensure safe passage for other vessels.
