Tianjin, China The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit opened today in Tianjin, bringing together leaders from across Eurasia at a time when shifting trade and security dynamics dominate the global stage.

In a notable development, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending this year’s gathering — his first trip to China since 2018.

Last year he skipped the summit, but New Delhi is now looking to reinforce its regional partnerships after Washington’s move to slap 50 percent tariffs on Indian exports under President Donald Trump’s administration.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to underline themes of unity, economic resilience, and stronger regional cooperation.

Analysts believe the summit could offer Beijing, Moscow, and New Delhi an opportunity to recalibrate their strategies and jointly address both economic and security challenges in an increasingly uncertain world.
