The Taliban have announced a new law that places strict punishment on women who leave Islam.

According to the law, any woman who decides to leave Islam will be given a life prison sentence. This punishment will continue until the woman returns to Islam. Officials say the imprisonment has no fixed end date and depends only on reconversion.

The law also states that women serving this sentence will face physical punishment. Reports say they will receive ten lashes every three days while they remain in prison.

Human rights groups have strongly criticized the new law. They say it violates basic human rights, including freedom of belief and protection from cruel punishment. Activists warn that such laws increase fear and suffering for women in Afghanistan.

The Taliban have not responded to international criticism so far. Many global organizations continue to call for pressure on the Taliban to respect women’s rights and international law.

This development comes as international concern continues to grow over restrictions on women’s rights in Afghanistan.
