The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have arrested four young men for adopting a Peaky Blinders–inspired fashion style.

According to local reports, the youths attempted to explain that their outfits were simply inspired by the popular British TV series, but Taliban officials accused them of promoting foreign culture.

A Taliban spokesman stated that such clothing “does not align with Islamic values and Afghan traditions,” adding that the current government had made great sacrifices to “protect the country from corrupt cultural influences.”

Following their arrest, the young men were forced to publicly apologize on national television. The Taliban’s morality police later announced that the detainees had “repented” for their actions.
