Thailand Mourns Queen Mother Sirikit’s Death at 93

Thailand is mourning the death of Queen Mother Sirikit, the beloved mother of the current

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, who passed away on Friday night at the age of 93, the royal palace announced.

According to the palace statement, “Her Majesty’s condition worsened until Friday and she passed away at 9:21 p.m. at Chulalongkorn Hospital.”

Queen Sirikit was the wife of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s longest-reigning monarch.

Revered nationwide for her lifelong public service and cultural work, she remained a deeply respected figure even after stepping away from public duties in recent years.
