Thousands of young Lebanese Catholics gathered in Bkerké to meet Pope Leo in a historic and spiritually significant event. The gathering highlighted the deep faith and devotion of Lebanon’s Catholic youth.
Attendees described the atmosphere as electric, with chants, hymns, and prayers filling the air. Many young Catholics traveled from different regions of Lebanon to witness the Pope and participate in religious activities, including mass and processions.
The Pope addressed the crowd, emphasizing themes of unity, compassion, and hope amid ongoing social and economic challenges in Lebanon. “Faith is our anchor,” he said, “and it can guide us through the toughest times with love and solidarity.”
Church officials said that the event also serves as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the Vatican and the Lebanese Catholic community, particularly the youth, who represent the future of the Church in the region.
Local authorities ensured security and organized the logistics of the massive gathering, coordinating with church leaders to accommodate the thousands of participants safely.
Analysts say this event marks one of the largest youth gatherings in Lebanon in recent years and reflects the continued importance of religious leadership in maintaining cultural and spiritual cohesion.
