Tragedy struck near Sharm el-Sheikh tonight as three Qatari diplomats, part of the Qatari Prime Minister’s negotiating team, were killed in a fatal car accident.
The diplomats were reportedly in Egypt to participate in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, which have drawn multiple international delegations seeking to de-escalate the conflict.
Local authorities confirmed that emergency teams rushed to the scene, but all three diplomats succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Qatar has played a key role in mediating between Israel and Hamas, and the loss of senior members of its delegation is expected to impact the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Officials in both Egypt and Qatar have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized that peace negotiations will continue as planned despite the tragic loss.
