Timo Soini Considers Political Comeback with the Centre Party

Timo Soini, the longtime leader of the Finns Party, has revealed in an interview with Turun Sanomat that he may run in the next parliamentary elections—but this time, as a candidate for the opposition Centre Party.

The former deputy prime minister and foreign minister, who co-founded the Finns Party three decades ago, is weighing a return to politics after a four-year break. However, if he does make a comeback, it will not be with his old party.

Soini believes the Centre Party has a realistic chance of securing the prime minister’s office after the 2027 elections. Recent polls rank it as the country’s third most popular party.
