Two Dutch teenagers were found dead in their hotel room in central Istanbul, while their father was hospitalized, Turkish media reported on Saturday.

The boys, aged 15 and 17, were discovered in a hotel in the Fatih district, close to Istanbul’s Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar, according to broadcaster NTV.

“When they arrived, ambulance paramedics confirmed that the two children had passed away. The father, in a state of shock, was taken to the hospital by ambulance,” the report stated.

Local media said the family, who were on vacation in Turkey, had dined in the bustling Taksim district earlier that evening. Investigators are examining whether the deaths may have been caused by food poisoning.
