Washington and Beijing have reached a breakthrough agreement on TikTok’s ownership, according to US trade officials.

The deal, described as a “framework agreement,” would transfer control of the app to US ownership amid ongoing national security concerns in Washington.

Jamieson Greer, a US trade representative, confirmed the development on Monday.

He said the agreement marks significant progress in the long-running dispute between the two powers.

Another US official, Scott Bessent, added that while the deal was moving forward, the commercial details were not yet being disclosed.

This deal could reduce tensions between the US and China, which have clashed over TikTok’s data security and its parent company’s ties to Beijing.
