Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodríguez has reportedly requested permission to travel to Washington, D.C., next Tuesday for diplomatic talks that could include meetings with U.S. officials and possibly with President Donald Trump, according to foreign media reports citing U.S. government sources.
The proposed visit comes amid ongoing efforts to reset diplomatic relations between the United States and Venezuela after a series of unprecedented developments, including the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro.
Both nations are exploring restoration of ties and cooperation on issues such as oil production and political stability. U.S. officials have yet to confirm final details of the agenda or meetings.
Rodríguez’s potential trip would mark a significant diplomatic step if approved, as she remains under existing U.S. sanctions meaning her travel would require special authorization from U.S. authorities.
