Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky Propose went public with a direct written message aimed at Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
The letter calls for an immediate end to the war in Ukraine and proposes a direct meeting between the two leaders to begin peace negotiations.
Ukrainians Support Drone Strikes on St. Petersburg
Zelensky Propose stated that Ukrainian long-range drones struck near the opening of an economic forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, traveling more than 1,000 kilometers.
He said the majority of Ukrainians view this positively. He also made clear that this distance is not the maximum range of Ukraine’s military capabilities.
Russians Growing Tired of the War, Zelensky Says
Zelensky Propose argued that Russian civilians are becoming increasingly unhappy with the consequences of the war. He pointed to several reasons for this growing discontent.
These include Ukrainian drone and missile strikes on Russian soil, rising fuel prices, supply shortages, ongoing restrictions on daily life, and reports of a planned second wave of military mobilization inside Russia.
He added that Putin has held power for more than 26 years and that both the war and his long leadership are producing visible fatigue inside Russia.
Ukraine Acknowledges Its Own Losses
Zelensky Propose acknowledged that Ukraine is also paying a heavy price.
He said that even though Ukrainian casualties are roughly one-fifth to one-sixth of Russian losses, every Ukrainian death is painful and significant.
He reaffirmed that Ukraine will protect its independence regardless of any outside predictions or pressure.
Putin Turned to North Korea and China for Support
Zelensky Propose stated that Putin became the first Russian leader in history to request military assistance from North Korea.
He also said that Russia is now fully dependent on China for political and economic support.
Zelensky described both situations as without any precedent in Russian history and as clear signs of Russia’s weakening position on the world stage.
Zelensky Proposes Direct Meeting and Prisoner Exchange
The central proposal in the letter is a face-to-face meeting between Zelensky Propose and Putin. Zelensky said the current frontline should serve as the starting point for any diplomatic process.
He called for the involvement of European nations that have real influence in the region, and stated that the United States must also be part of any talks.
He said American involvement could help shape a new security structure for Europe and the surrounding region.
As a first practical step, Zelensky proposed a full prisoner exchange, describing it as a meaningful opening move toward ending the conflict.
A Warning Drawn From Russian History
Zelensky Propose closed the letter with a warning he said is not a threat from Ukraine but a pattern from Russia’s own past.
When Russian society has grown exhausted by prolonged wars, political change has followed.
He stated that Ukraine is capable of contributing to that exhaustion, while Putin still has the option to stop the war on his own terms.
The letter ended with a tribute to all those killed since the war began and concluded with the words Glory to Ukraine.
