Early Life and Family Background
Lamine Yamal was born near Barcelona on July 13, 2007. His mother, Sheila Ebana, was 16 at the time of his birth, while his father, Mounir Nasraoui, was 15.
Nasraoui, of Moroccan origin and working as a construction painter, was born in 1992 and will turn 34 in 2026. Lamine Yamal parents separated when he was three years old.
The Grandmother Who Raised Him
The person credited with truly raising Yamal is his grandmother, Fátima. She migrated alone from Morocco to Spain by boat in 1990, working three shifts under difficult conditions as a caregiver to support her family.
Lamine Yamal continues to publicly credit her sacrifices, describing her influence as central to his upbringing.

At a young age, Lamine Yamal entered FC Barcelona’s renowned youth development system, La Masia.

His first and last names, “Lamine” and “Yamal,” were reportedly chosen in honor of two family friends who provided financial support to his parents during their teenage years.
