Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to nations of the Global South to step up diplomatic pressure on Russia to end its war in Ukraine.

In a statement shared on social media after talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday, Zelenskyy emphasized that the war “must be stopped” and the “killings and destruction must come to an end.”

The Ukrainian leader highlighted the importance of broader international backing, particularly from developing nations, to push Russia toward meaningful negotiations. He underlined that peace efforts cannot succeed without wider global involvement.

Zelenskyy’s remarks come as diplomatic efforts remain fragile, with little progress in talks aimed at halting the conflict that has devastated Ukraine and strained global security.
