A drone loaded with 400 packs of Belarusian cigarettes has crashed on the Polish-Belarusian border. Authorities

say smugglers are increasingly using drones and weather balloons to bypass the border fence built between the two countries.

Since the start of the year, Polish Border Guards have intercepted 118 weather balloons and 18 drones carrying

cigarettes. Around 29 people have been detained for attempting to smuggle goods worth over 3.4 million zlotys

(around $900,000) into Poland.

Meanwhile, Lithuania has shut its border with Belarus since late October following repeated incursions of

cigarette-carrying weather balloons. The closure will remain in effect until at least November 30.
