India is strengthening its military presence near the Himalayan border with China as part of preparations for a possible future conflict, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Since the deadly clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020, New Delhi has accelerated construction projects in the region. These include new roads, tunnels, airstrips, and military facilities close to the disputed border areas.

Indian authorities believe that improved infrastructure will allow troops and equipment to be moved more quickly if tensions rise. The developments are also aimed at increasing the army’s overall readiness in difficult mountainous terrain.

The report highlights growing security concerns in the region, as both countries continue to strengthen their positions along one of the world’s most sensitive borders.
