Finland has officially introduced its first F-35A stealth fighter jet, marking a major step in upgrading the countryโs air defence capabilities.
The aircraft is part of a planned fleet of 64 F-35A jets, which will gradually replace Finlandโs aging Hornet fighter jets by the year 2030.
The new fighters will be based at airfields close to Finlandโs eastern border. Officials say the advanced jets will strengthen Finlandโs defence readiness and improve cooperation with NATO allies.
The F-35A is designed for modern warfare, offering stealth features, advanced sensors, and real-time intelligence sharing. These capabilities are expected to enhance joint operations across the Baltic region and the High North.
The introduction of the F-35A reflects Finlandโs long-term strategy to modernize its armed forces and contribute to regional security alongside its NATO partners.
