Major internet connectivity issues have disrupted online services across Pakistan and India after several international undersea fiber-optic cables were cut in the Red Sea.
According to telecom industry sources, the damage occurred due to suspected anchor dragging by ships in the busy maritime route. This disruption has caused slow browsing, difficulty in accessing social media, and interruptions in banking and corporate operations in both countries.
Internet providers in Pakistan and India have confirmed that they are rerouting traffic through alternative channels, but users may continue to face connectivity issues until full repairs are completed. Experts warn that the repair process could take several days, given the depth and complexity of undersea cable maintenance.
Industry analysts say this is not the first time cables in the Red Sea region have been affected. Such incidents highlight the vulnerability of global internet infrastructure, especially in regions heavily dependent on a few submarine routes.
